Houston Public Transportation:
Rice University is located close to the Texas Medical Center and served by many transit routes. Some of the places served by METRO are the Astrodome, Downtown, Compaq Center, and the Galleria.
Rice University has arranged to offer all faculty and staff METRO fares at a 10% discount. The fares include 30-day Local passes, Zones 1, 2, 3, and 4 30-day passes. All passes are accepted by the rail system. The fares are for sale in the Cashier's Office in Allen Center, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 3:00 pm.
To purchase fares directly from METRO at a local bus stop, fares are $1.00 for local and $1.50 for express service. For information to other destinations, routes and schedules, contact the METRO web page or call 713-635-4000.
